Weather: The Garden Route in South Africa enjoys a mild and temperate climate throughout the year. Summers (December to February) are warm with temperatures ranging from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius (68 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit). Winters (June to August) are cooler, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius (50 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit). Rainfall is relatively evenly distributed, but the region can experience occasional heavy rains, especially during the winter months. Overall, the Garden Route offers a pleasant climate, making it a year-round destination for travelers.
Tour overview:
Day 1
Depart from Cape Town early in the day and make a pit stop for some delicious road trip snacks. Continue the journey to Wilderness, where you’ll embark on a late afternoon paddle up the Kaaiman's River to a beautiful waterfall. Afterward, savour a delightful dinner at our accommodation.
Day 2
Start your day with an early breakfast before setting off for the Half-Collared Kingfisher Trail. After the trail, proceed to Knysna for a leisurely lunch at the waterfront, followed by a scenic drive to the viewpoint overlooking the Knysna Heads. Conclude the day by heading to your accommodation in Plettenberg Bay.
Day 3
Set off for a thrilling adventure at Robberg Nature Reserve, tackling the picturesque 11km hike with the added excitement of spotting sharks. Afterward, treat yourself to a delightful lunch before heading to the iconic Bloukrans Bridge for a daring optional bungee jump. Conclude the day by unwinding and relaxing at your accommodation in Tsitsikamma.
Day 4
Begin your day by exploring Storms River Mouth, taking on the Suspension Bridge hike and commencing the first leg of the Otter Trail leading to the waterfall. After these thrilling adventures, make your way to Wilderness for a well-deserved overnight stay.
Day 5
After breakfast, hit the road back to Cape Town with a stop for wine tasting. Take scenic backroads to enjoy lunch in Hermanus. Explore the town with a whale walk before heading back to Cape Town via the picturesque R44 and Clarens Drive.
